How to Install Spherical Roller Bearings
The axial clearance of spherical roller bearings can be adjusted by adjusting nuts, threaded sleeves, or preload springs on the journal. The size of the axial clearance depends on the arrangement of the bearings when installed and the distance between the two bearings. The operating conditions of the bearing determine the material of the shaft and housing used in the assembly. Elevated temperature is another consideration. Clearance can be increased by up to 20 degrees Celsius.
